  • • If you have been waiting more than 13 weeks (91 days), you have the right to invoke a deemed refusal under Section 110 of the Social Security (Administration) Act 1999
  • • If you have been waiting more than 46 days with no contact, call Centrelink on 132 300 to request an update

Waiting Longer Than Expected?

If your claim has exceeded the current average wait time, you have several options:

  • 1.Call Centrelink (132 300) and ask for a status update on your claim. Have your Customer Reference Number (CRN) ready.
  • 2.Request a review if you have been waiting more than 13 weeks (91 days). Under Section 110 of the Social Security (Administration) Act 1999, you may invoke a deemed refusal and appeal to the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART).
  • 3.Contact your local MP — a ministerial inquiry from your Member of Parliament can sometimes accelerate a stalled claim.
  • 4.Seek free legal help from the Welfare Rights Centre (1800 226 028) if you believe your claim has been unreasonably delayed or incorrectly assessed.
