Summary (Plain English)

  • This is a peer support community — not a government service, not a law firm, not a financial adviser.
  • Nothing here is legal or financial advice. Always verify pension rates and deadlines with Services Australia (132 300).
  • We are not liable for outcomes of appeals or decisions you make based on information from this Platform.
  • Be respectful. Never share your CRN, TFN, or bank details in public posts.
  • Your documents and data are stored securely and never sold to third parties.

1. About This Platform

Australia Pension Community ("the Platform") is an independent, non-profit peer support community operated by and for Australian seniors who have experienced difficulties accessing their Age Pension entitlements.

The Platform is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Australian Government, Services Australia, Centrelink, the Department of Social Services, or any other government agency or political party.

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

3. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, the Platform, its operators, volunteers, moderators, and contributors expressly disclaim all liability for any loss, damage, or harm — whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise — arising from your use of or reliance on any information, tool, or content provided on this Platform.

This includes, without limitation: incorrect or outdated pension rate information; outcomes of appeals, reviews, or complaints lodged using tools or templates from this Platform; decisions made by Services Australia, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT), or any other body; and any technical errors, interruptions, or data loss.

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty, or other term or condition, implied or imposed by the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

4. Community Rules

The Platform is a safe, respectful space for seniors and their families. All members are expected to treat one another with dignity and compassion. The following conduct is strictly prohibited:

  • Sharing, requesting, or encouraging others to share personal identifying information such as Customer Reference Numbers (CRN), Tax File Numbers (TFN), bank account details, or Medicare numbers in public posts.
  • Posting content that is abusive, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or defamatory toward any person or group.
  • Impersonating a government official, legal professional, financial adviser, or any other person.
  • Posting content that promotes or facilitates scams, fraud, or deceptive practices — including fake Centrelink or MyGov schemes.
  • Advertising commercial products or services, including paid legal or financial services, without prior written approval from the Platform administrators.
  • Posting political campaign material or content that endorses or opposes any political party, candidate, or electoral matter.
  • Uploading or sharing content that infringes any third-party intellectual property rights.

The Platform uses automated moderation tools to detect sensitive data patterns (including CRN, TFN, and bank details) and may remove or flag content that appears to violate these rules. Moderators may remove content, issue warnings, or suspend accounts at their discretion.

5. Privacy and Data Handling

The Platform collects only the information necessary to provide its services — including your name, email address (via Manus OAuth), and any content you voluntarily post or upload.

Documents uploaded to the Document Vault are stored securely using encrypted cloud storage and are accessible only to the account holder. The Platform does not sell, share, or disclose personal data to third parties except as required by Australian law.

Community posts marked as "Public" are visible to all visitors. Posts marked as "Private" or "MP Only" are restricted accordingly. You are solely responsible for the content you choose to share publicly.

The Platform may retain anonymised, aggregated usage data (such as the number of members by state or appeal stage) for the purpose of community statistics and advocacy reporting. No individual is identifiable from this data.

For questions about your personal data, contact the Platform administrators via the Community Feed or the About page.

6. User-Generated Content

By posting content on the Platform, you grant the Platform a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content to other Platform users for the purposes of peer support and community advocacy.

You retain ownership of your content. You may delete your posts at any time. The Platform does not claim ownership of your personal story, documents, or submissions.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of content you post. The Platform does not verify the accuracy of member stories, claims, or advice shared in the community feed.

7. Changes to These Terms

The Platform reserves the right to update these Terms of Use at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via a notice on the Home page. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms were last reviewed in April 2025 and are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
